Terms Used in Baccarat

Baccarat – The name of the game and the term for the worst hand in Baccarat (a zero).

Banker Bet – When anyone bets on the bank to win.

Carte – A request for another card.

Muck – The card deck.

Natural – When the first two card dealt in baccarat equal either an 8 or 9.

La Petite – Cards totaling 8.

Shooter – A nickname for the bank.

Standoff – When the banker and the player tie.

Tie Bet – When the house and player both end up with the same cards.

Although the words can sometimes seem foreign or confusing, the rules are actually quite simple.
